Executive Summary
Introduction
Govt.Degree College, Marripalem is affiliated to the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam and is the first tribal women college in the ITDA region. This college was established under ST sub-plan for the welfare of the tribal women in the academic year 2011-2012 vide G.O.M.S number 51 dated 8 th June 2011 of Higher Education, Andhra Pradesh. Firstly it was accommodated in the Govt.Degree College, Chintapalli . Later it was shifted to the permanent own building with 6.03 acres of land at Downuru Marripalem of Moolapeta Panchyat in the academic year 2014-2015 . It has 6 class rooms alongwith Library with 3675 books. This is a major tourist and historic area in the Visakhapatnam District. Every year lakhs of tourists from all over India come here during the winter season. The temperature in this area often falls down to -2oC. Tourists come here to enjoy the cold winter nights and early morning snow fall. The Govt. Degree College, Marripalem is affiliated to the Andhra University, Visakhapatnam vide proceedings R.C .No. NOC-II/I/NDC/2011-2012 dated 1-10-2011. There are 315 women students presently pursuing their under graduate course in this college. The students are accommodated in the attached hostel of the college campus. The college has been offering 4 under graduate courses.

The vision of the college is to empower tribal women, develop responsible women leaders for the future, provide sound education in basic sciences and humanities, inculcate high values and overcome superstitions among the tribal women through quality education.

Strength, Weakness, Opportunity and Challenges (SWOC)
Strength
Govt.Degree College, Marripalem is located in beautiful , pollution free environment . The Andhra Kashmir Lambasinghi is very near to it. It only tribal women college in the ITDA area of the Andhra Pradesh. It has attached hostel to the students in the college campus. Faculty of the college are dedicated, committed with highest qualification Ph.D. Conducting National Service Programmes to serve the community , bridge courses to limit the gap between the subjects and career guidance programmes to increase job acquiring skills among the students.
Weakness
Govt.Degree College, Marripalem has poor infra structure facilities though it has own building with large ground . Class rooms , Laboratories , furniture are not sufficient. There are no toilets to the students and staff. Physical Director not posted to the college even though students much interested in the sports. Internet facilities, JKC are not available to the students.
Opportunity
There is a plan to use the expertise of the senior faculty members for formulating the new value added courses in the college. Formulating the flexible curriculum according the modern necessities of the students . Enhancement of quality teaching by using ICT and Mobile technology. There is opportunity to develop the life skills of the students by introducing short term courses like beautician course, Certificate course in self defence, Communication English course and Communication Hindi course.
Challenges
Dynamic course curriculum with several pedagogical changes under CBCS semester has added in this college , but the limited funds ,infrastructure and faculty can acts as challenge. Communication between the students and faculty members is a great challenge as the students mostly using the local language and diction and accent. Seasonal health problems like Malaria , Dengue and Diarrhoea can act as great challenge in this college as the students often facing the health problems in the hostel.
